Every October, the nation celebrates Child Health Day. This is a time to spread awareness about all aspects of our children’s physical, mental, and emotional health, and to take an active part in building healthy routines into your child’s daily life.

Here at the Collaboration, we celebrate child health 365 days a year. We work to ensure our children are reaching their full potential through our community-wide developmental screening project, preschool hearing and vision screening program, Physicians’ Network Events, and a variety of workshops and professional development for early childhood educators, parents, and caregivers. Even though we do all this work to support the healthy development of our children, we wanted to take this opportunity to shine a spotlight on #ChildHealthDay this year because this year is unique. Entering the classroom for the first time can be a hard transition. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, our children have been growing and learning amidst a completely unpredictable time in our nation’s history. But our children are resilient! Amidst the change and uncertainty, we see proof of their resilience every day! Please remember to reach out to us if you have any questions about your child. We are here to support you and make sure you have everything you need to provide the best care you can to our young children.

Here are a few simple things you can do to observe #ChildHealthDay with your children:

  • Schedule your child’s next routine checkup.
  • Ensure vaccinations are up to date.
  • Schedule a routine dental checkup.
  • Add new healthy activities to your children’s routine.
  • Set an example by letting your children catch you in healthy habits.
  • Inspect your child’s toys. Are they broken or age-appropriate?
  • Share your best tips for helping your children live a healthy lifestyle.
