Educator Mindfulness: Active Listening To Yourself with Yoga Kim of YogaKids Oak Park

This workshops series will take place on March 29, May 24 and July 26 from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Mindfulness is a practice of drawing one’s attention to the present moment creating an opportunity for contentment, joy, clarity and focus in one’s life. Yoga is an ancient practice of mindfulness. This workshop will teach yogic breathing and movement techniques that create an atmosphere for mindfulness to emerge. These concepts may be used by teachers and administrators to ease professional stresses and increase awareness of any moment in time. The concepts may be shared with young students to aid in social, emotional and physical development.

About Yoga Kim:
Beginning her yoga practice in 1996 after the birth of her youngest daughter, Kim was surprised to find that yoga helped, not only her physical body, but all aspects of her life. Looking for a career that would balance her family life and include her love of movement, art and children, she became a Certified YogaKids Teacher in 2001 and began her business, YogaKids of Oak Park. Pre-Covid, Kim taught about 12 children’s yoga classes each week at Montessori Preschools, public schools and yoga studios. She now teaches through zoom and continues to creatively theme lesson plans to include music, ecology, academics and character education. Children everywhere can now join her “live” on zoom or through her YouTube channel.
